How can you be sure that your results reflect what you think they are telling you?
We work with clients to develop and implement online survey solutions that are strategic and appropriate to their business.
There are many aspects of item construction that we can help you with.
1. Improve the representativeness of your sample
Although your survey will probably not be completed by everybody in your group or organisation, it should be representative. We can provide you with guidelines to ensuring a representative sample, so that you can feel more confident about generalising your results to the whole group or organisation.
2. Improve the validity of your questions
Ideally, you would like to be sure that your survey questions (or items) are valid, in other words, that they are asking what you think they are asking.
3. Validate the content of your survey
We can also help you to reflect on the underlying constructs that the items are addressing, ensuring that the end result (the analysis presented in your report(s)) is meaningful and speaks to the main purpose of your survey research.
You may wish to use your survey again, for example in a longitudinal study to compare attitudes or performance over time. If this is the case and if you have a large number of respondents, we may be able to investigate the reliability of your items. We can also analyse your items to see whether they group together in a meaningful way, according to the constructs that you are attempting to measure with your survey.

Your report should show clear results in numbers, tables and charts. However, what are the implications of your results for your group or organisation? To what extent are the differences or relationships that you observe significant enough to be considered true differences or relationships? We can help you to draw accurate conclusions from your data, while bearing in mind the limitations of your survey.

Larger or frequent projects cause resource bottlenecks for many organisations. Whilst they need always retain responsibility for outcomes, having additional resources available to bring to bear with large or frequent consulting assignments or projects can be very useful. Evaluation Solutions provides such ‘backfill’ or ‘overflow’ resources.
We are able to assist you in the development of your survey methodology to ensure the best outcomes are obtained. In consultation with you, we can help in the formulation of the survey structure and questions, or, simply set up your existing survey structure and questions online. Furthermore, we are able to code your open-ended responses to add value to your qualitative information, as well as create custom reports and charts for your specific project requirements.
